twenty-eight years of lovin

Today, May 11, 2013 my parents celebrate 28 years of marriage.

Twenty-eight whole years of ups and downs, two messy children, lots of animals, a few homes and a lot of patience. I don’t tell my parents often enough, but I admire the marriage they have. I had a picture-perfect childhood thanks to my mom and dad and I can never thank them enough for that.

The example they set before me was one of love and patience. It was rare that I saw them angry with each other as a young child, instead I saw them love each other and always look out for one another. I always saw my dad speak to my mom with nothing but respect as I grew up and because of that, I knew how I should be treated by my husband someday. I have memories of my parents loving each other unconditionally and working through things together, I admire that about them. Sure there were times where they probably wanted to rip each other apart haha! But that was never something they made visible to their children. They ensured we were raised in a loving environment and I am forever grateful for that.

My parents aren’t perfect of course, but they have certainly done something right to maintain that love for 28 years. My dad is nuts, like seriously one of the craziest and funniest people you will ever meet. He’ll make up the wildest nick-name for you the day you meet and he’ll call you that forever and always. I’m not kidding! My mom is sweet, and craves understanding others and supporting my brother and I. She was the ultimate mom who had lunches made for us every day before school, even into my Senior year…just because. The two of them couldn’t be more opposite in their personalities yet so similar in the way they cared for and loved my brother and I.

So today I honor them, I look up to them and I’m thankful that God felt like I deserved a super wild dadio and really sweet momma. I only hope to have half the marriage they do!

Mom and Dad…you guys rock. Thank you for caring about everything I do in life. Thank you for supporting me always. Thank you for setting a Godly example of what a marriage should be. Spoil yourselves today because you both deserve it :) I love you both, always.

xo

  • Mitch HoffeltGod blessed us with two awesome children both with great personalities and gifts from above. Watching Nicole and Brad grow in the knowledge and grace of the Lord Jesus Christ is the most rewarding part of being a parent. We too are proud of both of you and couldn’t ask for more. You bless us constantly and now we also have an awesome son in law to enjoy as well. He is a unique individual, Je’ffe, one of the funniest guys I’ve ever met, especially in the halls of the Grand Mayan. Thanks for your kind words Nicole, we love you lots…..

God has held your mother and I together through thick and thin, without Him our 28th anniversary would not exist, praise Him!ReplyCancel
